God’s presence is the most precious commodity in the universe. David knew this when he begged God, “Do not cast me from your presence…” (Psalm 51:11). If you were away from the presence of God for even a fraction of a second, you would cease to exist.
God is omnipresent. This means He is everywhere and in everything. The presence of God holds the atoms together; it maintains the cycle of the seasons; it feeds the sun’s energy; it keeps the stars in the sky; and it causes plants to grow. Most important of all, the presence of God brings healing.
Even though God is omnipresent, there are times when we can feel a stronger concentration of His presence in a certain place. For example, Luke records one occasion when “the power of the Lord was present to heal” (Luke 5:17). On this particular day, the presence of God’s healing power was strong.
One of God’s names is Jehovah Rapha, which means, “The Lord who heals.” This name reveals that healing is part of the nature of God. He is life and the source of all life. Being in His presence infuses divine life into our mortal bodies. It restores lost muscle tissue, brings peace to troubled minds, refreshes the spirit, cleanses impurities, drives out infection, and forces the organs to function properly.
Do you like to spend time where you are appreciated? God feels the same way. The best way to invite His presence is to spend time worshiping Him. Often people will be healed when an atmosphere of God’s presence is created through worship. The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people (See Psalm 22:3). When a crescendo of praise and worship reaches heaven, God’s presence arrives and along with His presence comes His healing power.
The Lord promised Moses, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14). Moses valued the presence of God so much that he told God, “If your presence does not go with me, I don’t even want to go.” He knew that in God’s presence is joy (Psalm 16:11), rest (Exodus 33:14), safety (Psalm 31:20), blessing (Psalm 89:15), and healing (Luke 5:17), and he refused to go anywhere without God’s presence.
The present of healing comes when we spend time in the presence of God Almighty.
