“How do you know healing is for today?” a man asked me recently.
“I know healing is for today because God does not change,” I replied.
Every day the world changes. (Change is an inevitable part of life: circumstances change, people change their minds, governments change their laws, and businesses change their locations.) In the midst of all this world’s hustle and bustle, there is only one person who does not change. God does not change. He declares, “I the LORD do not change” (Malachi 3:6). If God healed the sick in the past, He will heal the sick today.
Jesus, like His Father, does not change either. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Since Jesus healed the blind, the cripples, the lepers, and the paralyzed when He walked on earth; He still heals the sick today.
Unfortunately, some in the church have changed God’s “I am the Lord who heals you” to “I was the Lord who healed you.” These people acknowledge that God healed in the past, but they refuse to believe that He heals today. I want you to know that God’s healing power is not past tense, it is present tense.
James writes, “Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift [including healing] is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:16-17). On a dark night shadows change as the moonrises but God is not like those ever-changing shadows, He does not change over time.
Healing is a good gift that comes from God. In this book you can read stories about God healing during Old Testament times, Jesus healing when He was on earth, the Apostles healing during the early days of the church, believers healing throughout church history, and healings which I have seen with my own eyes. God does not change. If He has healed all these people over thousands of years, He is absolutely willing to heal you right now.
I also know healing is for today because God does not lie. “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19). The Bible is filled with promises of healing, and if God promised healing, He will be faithful to keep His word.
Healing is for you today. This is your day for a miracle!
Expect a miracle touch
Receiving from God is like being the receiver in a football game. When the quarterback throws the ball, the receiver must reach up and catch it from the air. No matter how great the quarterback can throw, if the receiver just stands there, the ball is going to bounce off his head. God has thrown a beautiful healing pass right at you, reach your hands up into the air and receive it from Him right now. Do not let the enemy cornerback snatch the ball from within your grasp. Reach up, claim what is rightfully yours and run with it into the end zone for a Holy Spirit touchdown!
The world is full of sickness, but while Christians might live in the world, we do not belong to the world (John 15:19). Our citizenship is in heaven where there is no pain and no disease. The blessings of heaven do not have to wait for the future; you can enjoy heaven’s benefits right now while you are still in this world. God wants His “will to be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). You can overcome sickness because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever! His touch is just as real today as when He touched the blind man’s eyes, reached out towards the leper, or stroked the hand of the feverous woman. Stop reading for a second and imagine the hand of Jesus touching you softly on your forehead. One touch from His hand has healed thousands and one touch can heal you.
Remember, Jesus was never sick a day of His life, and we should be just like Him.
