Evangelism Coach Daniel King (00:57):
Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King. And today I have a special guest. Bryce quant is from South Africa. He works in Zimbabwe and other nations right now. We’re in the nation of Malawi. Bryce, thank you for being with me.
Bryce Kwant (01:13):
You so much such a privilege to talk to you and we hoping listeners will be inspired.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:18):
So tell me a little bit about yourself and about your history.
Bryce Kwant (01:22):
Well, I am from Johannesburg, South Africa, and I’ve always been involved in church ministry. I’ve grown up in the church and, you know, just kind of seen God move through things. And, and, and part of that has been discovering my purpose and calling. And so I’ve always been one to test as many things as possible to try as many things as possible and just be available. Keep my hands open and say, yes, Lord, I’ll try.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:45):
And you have been doing missions work in Zimbabwe in Zambia now in Malawi, also South Africa, tell me some of the type of ministry that you do.
Bryce Kwant (01:55):
We’ve done so many things, so we’ve always gone and partnered with local teams. And so one of the projects in Zambia actually, sorry, in Livingston in Zambia has been a project where we started with just actually feeding kids. And so we would reach out to the local communities and we’ve developed a farm, a sustainable project, the farm sunk boreholes hauls bowl, the base house planted churches. And we always have been doing local outreach in the community that we believe is the foundation of the work always is preaching the gospel and from the gospel comes all the good things that come from God.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:32):
That’s awesome. So right now we are in Malawi for a big love Malawi festival. This is in conjunction with the global network of evangelists, a ministry that’s under the ministry of Luis Palau. And so how did you get connected with the G and D and with this?
Bryce Kwant (02:53):
Well it was actually in about March this year, 2021. I was busy with my home church in South Africa and I got a phone call from one of the team saying that we were busy doing work in Zambia and your names popped up. And so we would love for you to come and help us to partner and to use some of the relationships. And it was all God. And so from there that the relationships have developed and I joined the team in April and in Zambia and then came onto the team for the planning for this trip. And now we here and doing awesome ministry with awesome people.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:29):
So what are some of the things that you’ve done to help prepare for the festival here? Last night we had a great festival. I think it was something like 561 decision cards filled out we’re in the city of Lucho Monza, and just tremendous response from the people. But what are some of the things that you did to help organize this
Bryce Kwant (03:51):
Last month? We came through four of us from the team and we met in every city over four days and we were prepaying pasta. So a big thing for us is to prepare the local team. This is about the local church as well. And so we want the local church to be prepared, to be ready not just to receive the salvation, but to work with people in the end, as much as it’s about a vendor, that’s partnering, coming, making these things happen. It’s about the local church, continuing the work of ministry here. So a lot of meetings a lot of preparation and so on the ground. So there’s so much when you think about it, we’ve had nonstop meetings with schools, with pastas, prisons, chaplains evangelists and networks of pastors, networks of evangelists, and all just kind of sharing the vision for what these love festivals are about
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:47):
Yesterday. You shared with me a testimony from one of your previous mission trips, where you were in a vehicle and you had a trailer behind you. Tell me about the tragedy that happened, and then the testimony of how God rescued you.
Bryce Kwant (05:02):
We were taking a team to Zambia. And so this was in 2013 and I’ll never forget it. It was as clear as daylight. We were driving through Botswana and there’s a strip in Botswana where there is literally nothing on the road. So very empty open, and we were driving. And as we were driving the axle or the leaf Springs just kind of popped off. And so the whole trailer came apart and we just had to stop. And we decided to offload the trailer as a team and pack what we could into our vehicle. And we prayed together. We said, God, we, we really need you to come through for us, but we need to carry on with the mission of God. And so we locked the trailer and decided what we’re going to carry on and trust what is his to the Lord.
Bryce Kwant (05:43):
And as we were traveling, so we were about to get traveling and we prayed again, and this vehicle came driving up to us. And it’s the middle of notice. If you can imagine an open road kind of desert-like and as vehicle stops and the guy gets out of his vehicle and he says to us, you know what, I’ve got a welding machine and a generator and they go, I can fix this for you. And so we had already prepared the trailer for him. We had emptied it, and we were able to stay as a team, just kind of lifted up on the side and he welded everything back together. And we were able to load things back in and, and as he was done, he just kind of said, go well, cheers, goodbye. And for us, we thought, wow, this is like an angel. And so we were able to load the vehicle full again and carry on with the mission. And, and, you know, one of the most amazing testimonies about this whole trip is, you know, many people after that, even throughout the trip, just say, wow, the power of prayer, the power of prayer. So God can use what seemed like a disaster for his glory.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:42):
That’s amazing. You’re in the middle of nowhere, the axle on the trailer falls off and God sends a welding machine and a generator in the middle of nowhere to help you deal with the situation. Isn’t that amazing how God provides. He is Jehovah Gyra, the God that provides for us, even when we don’t know what we need, he already has an answer on the way. So tell me some of what you see yourself doing in the future. What’s what future dreams do you have of what you want to accomplish for God?
Bryce Kwant (07:13):
Sure, personally I love partnership. I love working with teams. I love showing people the mission. And so part of my passion is taking people along on trips. And, and so I really love the festival environment. For me, it’s a great time for people to be exposed to many things, as well as obviously the mission and what we accomplish. But I really enjoy taking people along luck. We have a young man with us now, and it sets a privilege him. It’s his first time ever doing something like this. And it’s a great opportunity to expose people to what God is doing around the world and for them to unlock what’s inside of them. And so part of my real, I would say gifting, but passion is to see others come alive. And so that’s really something inside of me. As my dad always says to me, he’s always said, keep your hands open. Because what God places in is to go through and say, this is the moment you close your hands. God can’t give it anymore. So, so I love just keeping my hands open and allowing God to move things through me. And I believe that’s part of my calling.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (08:19):
That’s awesome. Well, Bryce, thank you so much for being on the evangelism podcast. It’s great to meet you and great to see you and, and, and see your involvement in this, this love Malawi festival. Just a tremendous privilege to serve Jesus.
Bryce Kwant (08:35):
Yeah. Thank you, Daniel King. It’s been awesome. And we look forward to many opportunities coming.
