And now here’s your host, missionary and evangelist Daniel King.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (00:55):
Welcome to the Evangelism Podcast. I’m Daniel King and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus. I’m here with my good friend. Valdi from the nation of Germany. Thank you so much for being on the evangelism pod.
Waldy Bershe (01:07):
Yes. Yeah. Thank you for having me. It’s an honor. So we met
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:10):
In the nation of Sweden at a meeting of ACE, the association of campaign evangelists, which has many different Europeans and Scandinavian evangelists who work together to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. And so we met and right after that trip, I was scheduled to go to Egypt and you came and said, can I go on a trip with you sometime? And I said, what are you doing next week? Let’s go to Egypt together. And you said, sure. And so you, you jumped right on that trip. What were some of the things that you remember that God did in?
Waldy Bershe (01:48):
Yeah, we’ve preached in a couple of different cities, like Cairo or Alexandria, and we preached to, to Sudanese refugees and we saw how Muslims came to Christ. We had a pastors and leaders seminar and we taught them and evangelism. And it was life-changing. I learned from you, you are very experienced when it comes to evangelism and it was an honor to join you. And yeah, yeah. I thought that
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:13):
Event in Alexandria was really cool because we looked some at the history of Alexandria, the first evangelist to go there was Mark the gospel writer. And so the legend is the, as he came into Alexandria, his shoe broke and he took it to the local shoe maker. And as the shoe maker was working on the shoe, the, the sharp stick in his hand slipped and went right through his hand. And so Mark prayed for him and the Shoemaker was healed and he became the first convert there. And then after Mark was martyred, they drug him through the streets behind their chariots. Then the Shoemaker became the second Bishop of Alexandria in the Egyptian Coptic church. They continue to trace the history of their bishops going all the way back to Mark, who wrote the gospel of Mark. And so it was cool to preach in the footsteps of one of the disciples of Jesus. And you remember seeing that the pyramids, we had a good time together.
Waldy Bershe (03:18):
That’s true. Yeah. We went to see the pyramids. It was life changing. I mean, the seeing that Christ is still preached in Northern Africa and yeah.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:28):
And so you have been traveling to other nations. What are some of the, the places that you’ve had the chance to go and preach
Waldy Bershe (03:35):
Gospel? Yeah. Preached in countries like Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, also couple of countries in Africa, like Cameroon, Kenya, Uganda Brazil
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:50):
Quite a lot. It sounds like. And in Brazil you went with Rubin’s, Konya our good friend from, from Brazil. Great. Brazilian evangelists. And then you, you got to go to, to Kazakhstan, which you actually, you were, you were born in Kazakhstan T tell me about that.
Waldy Bershe (04:05):
I’m German, but I was born in Kazakh, Stan, and yeah, I didn’t visit my country for over 30 years. So just recently I went there and we preach there. We had a possibility to visit churches and the country is not so open for Christianity, but still there are possibilities to share the gospel and yeah, we try to strengthen the body of Christ over there.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:28):
And so as you’ve gone to these different nations, what have you seen God do? What kind of miracles have you experienced? What has God been doing as you’ve been preaching?
Waldy Bershe (04:38):
Yeah, I remember we were, we had a crusade in a country in South Asia and there was a Hindu leader and he, his wife has, was blind and he came with his wife to our meeting and yeah, he had this neat. His wife was blind and got opened up the eyes of this wife. And yeah, he confessed Christ in front of thousands of people. This was really life-changing. So we see a lot of miracles that the deaf hear and the cripples walk Christ is still alive. Like the Bible is telling us Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Yeah.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:19):
Amen. And right now we are in Orlando, Florida, and you are attending the evangelism bootcamp with Christ for all nations led by evangelist Daniel Kolenda. The ministry originally started by Reinhardt Bunky. And this is a three month intensive training process for evangelists. Can you tell me, why did you want to come to the evangelism bootcamp?
Waldy Bershe (05:48):
Yeah, it’s crusades in the past, but I still want to learn from the best of the best. And Steven is the best when it comes to evangelism. And yeah, I’m from a small town in, from Germany called Tosh date and right out Punka he was invited as a 16 year old boy by German pasture. And he visited the town. He preached there and the people were touched and he wrote that everything started from this small town. And I know the house where he preached. So as a young boy, I drove by and I said, God, from here, he was sent out to the nations. He touched the whole continent of Africa. Africa has over 1 billion people and almost everyone knows their name of rhino bunkie in Africa. And I said, God, please, can you do it for me again too? And yeah, God granted me the vision. And I’m able to visit the CIF and bootcamp and learn from Daniel Kolenda used the successor of Reinhardt Bunky. They brought over 80 million people to Christ and it’s really life-changing
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:51):
Well, and so a few years ago before Reinhard Bunky went to heaven, you actually had the opportunity to, to meet him and talk to him. What was that like to meet a fellow great German evangelist?
Waldy Bershe (07:05):
Yeah. Ryan at Bungie was really impressive. We talked about crusade. He had in Hamburg and he was preaching there in this 2 million city. And yeah, he had some opposition, but he was willing to press on and preach the gospel. It was raining, but he still continued to preach. And a lot of people heard the gospel and the area where he started his ministry.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (07:31):
And so not only are you going to different nations in Asia and Africa and South America, but you also have a heart for your own country of Germany. But the, the atmosphere in Germany is very different than in some nations. What is the general spiritual atmosphere? If you, if you talk to someone about God, what’s that like in Germany,
Waldy Bershe (07:59):
Germany is kind of a hard ground because Germany is a wealthy country that people don’t need. God. So they say, okay, I have everything. I have a house, I have a job I’m healthy. Why do I need God? So but still there was this inner Vite in their, in their heart and their there’s still an inner longing for something, but they don’t know what it is. And the gospel is we have to preach the gospel in Germany, but the people are still resisting and saying, okay, you have your own belief. You can believe what you want. I will believe. And do my thing. Just please stay away from me, you know, but Germany has a lot of great heritage. Germany is the country of Martin Luther muffin rulers. There were, he reformed the faith 500 years ago and he translated the Bible. So I’m very thankful for the forefathers in Germany. They brought the gospel to the whole, we have the Moravians in Germany, they preach the gospel all over. They went to the forest corners and yeah, nations were touched by the Moravian. So we have great heritage. And we have to bring the gospel again, back to Europe, back to Germany.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (09:11):
Amen. I mean, Martin Luther had such a tremendous impact on Protestant Christianity. And I’m so thankful for, for a great German like him. And like you said, the Moravians, I know that they love to pray. In fact there is a place on the East coast of the United States that the Moravians pray 24 hours a day for over a hundred years, the Moravian missionaries that came in. So I believe that if God can do it once God can do it again. So I pray for all of Germany to be saved. So, so you’ve actually worked with some of the churches in Germany, training them in evangelism. Tell me some of, of what that looks like and what response you’ve had from people as you’ve gone out on the streets.
Waldy Bershe (10:00):
What I do is training evangelists in Germany. We visited churches and train them to share the gospel and on the streets, but also the working places. And a couple of years ago I was just, we went to the drag scene and I saw a guy who was refugee from Iran. And I invited him to McDonald’s and I shared the gospel with him. And he said, you know, you’re the first person inviting me to eat too. And he opened up his heart, he started to cry and he received Christ. And now he is an active member in the church. He’s leading other people from Iran to Christ and it’s sometimes very simple. Sometimes we say, yeah, who am I? I’m just a normal person, but you still can change a life by just actively approaching people. And for me, it was really great to see. I just went to a person preached and now he is he is discipling other Iranian refugees.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:02):
So, so you’ve actually taken churches from Germany, out on the streets in Germany, talking to people about Jesus. What’s the response of a typical German? What do they do? They laugh at you, do they ignore you? Do they try to walk away? How do people usually respond?
Waldy Bershe (11:22):
They say most of the people say, okay, I don’t have time for that. So you have your own belief. I have my belief don’t bother me, but there are still a lot of people they are open and yeah, they’re receptive.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:34):
So if someone says, don’t bother me, you have your belief. I have my belief, just leave me alone. What do you do to, to, to overcome that objection or to
Waldy Bershe (11:44):
Sometimes I’m asking them a very direct question. I’m asking them if you die tonight, where are you going to spend eternity? And then they start to think, man, that’s a important question. Where are you going to spend eternity? And then it opens a little bit up. And sometimes we can lead them to Christ and it’s very needy there in Germany. Germany wants the gospel.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (12:05):
Amen. Well, I think Germany is just as much a mission field as some of the other places that I’ve gone. I mean, sometimes you can go to a nation Africa and end a large percentage of the population may already be Christian. And in, in Germany they they’ve said that Europe is, is a post-Christian continent, but I don’t think it has to be called post-Christian. I think let’s say it is pre-Christian it is coming to Jesus. It will come back to Christ. I believe that we will see a great harvest of souls in Germany, as well as an, in other parts of the world. And so you are full of fire, full of passion for evangelism. And for, as you’ve been getting started in evangelism, you’ve, you’ve had your job there in Germany, but the time is coming where you want to, to go into full-time evangelism. Is that right? What, what do you see God doing in the future? Yes,
Waldy Bershe (13:03):
My goal is to be full-time evangelist and future. So before I was working full, I had a normal job, but I really want to be obedient to the call of God. So I had a great job. Yeah, but in the end, God is not going to ask you what kind of nice job you had or how much money did you make, but what did you do for Christ? How many people that you brought for to Jesus? So it really like your goal. Your goal was to be a soul millionaire by the end of 30. And you achieved the goal actually. And now you brought 2 million people to Christ and as has men Daniel King, he made it he’s my role model. I wanted to do it in future too. And yeah, I’m right now, I’m figuring out a way how to reach 1 million people through Christ.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (13:47):
Amen. Well, I believe with you that God can bring that to pass in Jesus’ name. Well, if someone wants to know more about your ministry or to get in touch with you, what is your web
Waldy Bershe (14:00):
Address? If we were at risk called saving the lost.com saving the lost.com. So I’m not into feeding the poor, but saving the lost and yeah, you can visit my website. Yeah,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (14:14):
It is very important to feed the poor. There’s a lot of poor people, but it does no good to give someone a full belly if they are going to hell. And so ultimately we have to help people make a decision to live for Christ so that they will spend eternity with him in heaven. And so thank you so much for being on the evangelism podcast. It’s really wonderful to meet you in Sweden and then spend time with you in Egypt. And now here we are in Orlando and I believe that God has great things in store for you and for your ministry. May God give you a million and even
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (14:52):
More in Jesus’ name. Hey man, I believe it. Amen. I take it. God bless you. Thanks
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (14:57):
So much for listening to the evangelism podcast today, I’m excited about telling people about Jesus. And what we’ve found is that as we go to different nations of the world, it takes us an average of about $1 for every person we’re able to reach with the gospel. And so some countries are more expensive. Some countries are a little bit less expensive, but on average, we’ve invested about $1 for every person we’re able to lead to Jesus. So today I’m asking you to go to my website, King ministries.com and give $1, $2, $5, become a monthly partner, help us to lead people to Jesus. Imagine you can start a party in heaven with just $1. Also go to Apple iTunes, leave us a review for the evangelism podcast with Daniel King. So lots of people can find this evangelism podcast. God bless you
