If God is real, then why is there so much suffering and hardship and persecution that we see going on around us?
The existence of suffering and hardship in the world is a complex and difficult question that has puzzled people for centuries. The Bible does not give a complete or straightforward answer to this question, but it does provide some insights that can help us to understand why suffering exists.
One reason that suffering exists is because of the presence of sin in the world. The Bible teaches that sin entered the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve, and that it has had a profound impact on the world and on humanity (Romans 5:12). Sin has caused people to suffer, both physically and spiritually, and it has also caused division and conflict between people.
Another reason that suffering exists is because of the fallen nature of the world. The Bible teaches that the world is not as God intended it to be and that it is subject to corruption and decay (Romans 8:20-21). This means that people will experience suffering and hardship in various ways as a result of living in a fallen world.
It is important to remember, however, that God is sovereign and that he is in control of all things. The Bible teaches that God is loving and good, and that he is able to use even the difficult circumstances of our lives for his purposes and for our good (Romans 8:28). While we may not always understand why suffering occurs, we can trust in God’s goodness and his promise to one day restore all things (Acts 3:21).
